Learn to Ring

The English-style of bell ringing (or 'change ringing') is a team activity that has developed over several hundred years. Some ringes consider it to be a form of service to the church whilst others consider it to be a secular hobby.

Anybody of any age can learn to ring, and you would be most welcome at almost any tower in the world.

If you would like to learn to ring in Durham you can contact any of the towers by clicking their lnks below. Each tower pratices on a different night so you should hopefully be able to find one to suit you.

If you want to know more, find your closest ring of bells and contact the tower captain. Dove's Guide (click here) allows you to search for all towers with bells and will hopefully list contact details, website and practice night. If these details are not included on Dove, look under "Affiliation" for the website of your area's Guild or Association. You should be able to find some contact details that way.
