Durham, St Nicholas
St Nicholas' church contains a ring of six bells, 5 of which are the oldest hung for change ringing in Durham. The bells were silent between the mid-seventies and 1999 but in 1999 some basic maintenance took place, the bells were made safe and some ringing began again. In 2009, the bells (five from 1687 and one from 1889) were rehung and are now rung regularly.
